Last year I described one of my favorite October books, The
Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury. Now I'd like to tell you about
another. A few years ago Roger Zelazny wrote a wonderful book called A
Night in the Lonesome October. It is written in day-by-day
entries, thirty-one chapters in all, and in October at our house we
read each day aloud, taking turns. We even have good-natured
disagreements about who gets to read the best chapters. For younger
readers this month I found some other slightly spooky books:
Hoodwinked by Arthur Howard and The Monsters of Morley
Manor by Bruce Coville. And incidentally, the moon is full on
November 1 this year -- NOT on Halloween. Enjoy
Because of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, there were no reviews last month.
